Product Types
Brand New condition - Products that are in flawless condition as they were when they left the factory floor and are covered under the manufacturer’s original limited warranty.
B-Stock - items that were opened and returned, have a cosmetic blemish or imperfection These products are tested to manufacturer's specs and are guaranteed to function perfectly.
Synonyms: Like New, Customer Return, Blemished, Resealed
Refurbished - item is usually older and has been fully overhauled to make it once again playable, functional, and as cosmetically cleaned up as much as possible. We do not re-lacquer horns or re-plate instruments ourselves and if either of these actions has been taken, the work was completed by an outside shop and will be notated as such. Any remaining issues will be notated or photographed as much as possible.
Needs Repair- have definite functional problems that will usually require some sort of repair.
Non-functioning - items do not work. Best for parts or crafts.
Consignment - items are being sold through the store for another client. Usually repairs or cleanings are done before listing, but in special cases where we want the buyer to have some say in how the repairs are handled, repairs may be an added cost to the buyer and add some wait-time to the order. These instruments will then be sold "As Is" and repairs or will be determined later. Listing may include condition grades for cosmetic qualities and functionality qualities separately.
Condition Grading
Excellent - item has been used a bit but is still close to new. Vintage items may have some marks here and there but are still in tip-top condition when compared to similar products.
Very Good - items with more cosmetic imperfections than Excellent but is still in great condition overall.
Good - items that are in fine working order but have some visual imperfections here and there.
Fair - items work fine but maybe have some functional issues.
Other Terms Used
Custom - Items have had custom design changes either for cosmetic or functional reasons.
Cosmetic - issues only pertain to the visual looks of the product but don't have any effect on the functionality. e.g., scratches, small dings, plating issues, etc.
Functional - issues affect the playability and need repairs.
