Flute Fair - March 25, 2023

In March we attended the Flute Fair, hosted by the Oklahoma Flute Society. The day was filled with the sounds of Flutes ricoching off the walls and floors as students and teachers test played instruments. The schedule consisted of presentations, masterclasses, rectials, and with a gala as the grand finale.

The primary guest artist of the day was Jennifer Grim, a flute soloist with lengthy accmplishments and alcolades. She gave presentations, lectures, and performed at a recital.

We spent most of our time at our table, which was setup next to some other flute stores. Carolyn Nussbaum Music Company is a Texas-based instrument repair and music store, and The Flute Center of New York, which sells instruments and accessories. We were also right across from Flute 360's table. We met the creator of the podcast, Dr. Heidi Kay Begay. She is the host for two podcasts and offers coaching and lessons in music, career advice and more. She presented at the Flute Fair, “Podcasting: An Entrepreneurial Opportunity for the Modern-Day Musician.” She also has remote classes if you are interested in delving into the world of podcasting.

By the end of the day, we saw warm reunions between old friends and new friendships bloom. The Flute Fair elicits community outreach and growth through networking and a passion for music. The day felt full and kind - like a home away from home. We hope to see you at the next Flute Fair!
